This week’s training run is on Saturday, July 4th at Columbia Island Marina, Vandana and Sundar will be the coaches.
Please remember to bring fluids to carry with you on the run as it will be hot and humid on Saturday.

Starting Time: Run starts at 7:00 AM.
Meeting Point: We will meet in the parking lot of Columbia Island Marina, accessible from the GW Parkway southbound, between Memorial Bridge and the 14th Street Bridge.

There is plenty of parking at the Marina.

Beware that you can only get into the entrance safely from the north. If you come onto the Parkway from Alexandria, or from the 14th Street Bridge, you will need to ride the spaghetti ramps near Memorial Bridge until you find the exit for "Alexandria - Reagan National Airport -Parkway South"

Social safety requirements:
  • Do not participate if you are feeling sick or ill, and or have a fever, or if you have been in contact with someone unrecovered from COVID-19
  • Social distancing of at least 6 feet should be practiced at all times.
  • Face masks must be worn for the arrival, initial announcements, and any post run conversations.
  • Face masks are optional during the run as long as at least 6 feet of social distancing can be maintained.
  • If more than 10 people are present, the coaching staff will split the participants into groups of less than 10 to provide initial announcements and course information.
  • All participants must bring their own food and drink and no sharing is permitted.
  • Runners must maintain at least a 6 foot social distance during the run and may run only in well-spaced groups of no more than 3.

Distance: The scheduled distance is 10 miles for marathon trainees and 5 miles for the Half-Marathon trainees.
Full Marathoners: (10 miles) will run South on Mount Vernon Trail towards Alexandria.  We will run to Canal Center Plaza in Alexandria and turn around and return to CIM. 
Half Marathoners: (5 miles) will run South on Mount Vernon Trail towards Alexandria. You will turn around at 2.5 miles out and go back to CIM.  The turn around will be marked with chalk on the path.  
Aid Stations: Please note that MCC will not provide post-run refreshments or communal aid stations this year because of risks associated with the coronavirus. Each runner must bring water/Gatorade. We are designing the runs with multiple passes of the start/finish area, runners may stow refreshments there.
