Friends of the W&OD 10K to continue tradition
as Washington area's "green" race

Arlington Cooperation Foundation proudly presents Friends of the W&OD 10K, a unique race on a unique course, Saturday evening, August 1, at 6:30 PM in Vienna, Virginia.

The 10K race (6.2 miles) runs on the pancake-flat Washington & Old Dominion Trail, one of the nation's best-known rails-to-trails parks, from Ayr Hill Road to Hunter Mill Road and back, with a short spur onto Clark's Crossing Road and Batten Hollow Road.

Registration is now open at www.marathoncharitypartners.org/friends.

From 4:15 PM to 8:00 PM on the day of the race, ACF presents "College of the Environment -- Green University™," at Centennial Park, the one-acre park surrounding the old red caboose at 131 Church Street NE in Vienna. Environmental organizations are welcome to exhibit for free, and environmentally-themed businesses are invited to sponsor the event. Both are welcome to show off their programs and products at the College of the Environment.

The event emphasizes how runners can work to improve the environment, to recycle, reduce, and re-use. The race announcements are printed back-to-back with another flyer on recycled paper, race organizers facilitate car-pooling, the race plants a new tree along the W&OD Trail at 5:30 PM before the College of the Environment, and all trash from the race is minimized and recycled.

To register, see www.marathoncharitypartners.org/friends. Registration is $35 by July 13, and $45 by July 26 or at packet pickup during the College of the Environment.
